Europeans consume 1,01 kg mussels per capita per year!

In 2016, the average EU citizen consumed 24,33 kg of fisheries and aquaculture products, 763 grams more than in 2015. More than half of total per capita apparent consumption of farmed products is represented by salmon (2,08 kg) and mussels (1,01 kg), both stable compared with 2015.

Documentary – mussels eat sea lice!

St. Andrews Biological Station in Canada has documented that mussels eat sea louse! In this video we clearly see that sea lice is being pumped straight into the mussel and digested inside the mussel. The video has very good pictures and support the idea of using mussels as a environmentally friendly and cost efficient way of reducing sea louse.
