Designed to be Easy!
Since the pipe-buoyancy of the SmartUnits is calculated only for the biomass, i.e the mussels, and the system is designed to also absorb active forces of the sea, it needs mooring-buoys that are fixed on the anchor-ropes. The complete unit is designed so it only needs 2 shackles to connect into the mooring-system.
When mooring on strong-tidal sites or open-water sites single mooring of one or more units is used along the length with one anchor and mooring buoy in each end. When working, and mooring on sheltered sites prefabricated fans and spread-ropes may be set up as a mooring-system to reduce the number of anchoring points, or link several SmartUnits together and anchor them at each end.
This all makes mooring and handling of the SmartUnits very easy. In this way the SmartUnits are easily moved to a sheltered site if for example a tornado is coming up, or sunk to the bottom for a storm.
